Material: Siberian Goat duvet
Hand Made
The knitting of the loose-knit shawls made of Siberian goat duvet started in Russia at the XVII-ième century, thanks to the meticulous work of the cossacks women installed with their families in Siberia at the end of XV-ième century.
These Shawls are also called "Russian Pashminas".
The name was given by the Mongols to a duvet which occurred under the breast piece of the goats when they live in altitude and with very strong cold.
The duvet has exceptional qualities: it is extremely fine, elastic, shining, soft and does not make pills.
Its a very good insulator.
One finds on the market primarily two families of Renbourg Shawls:
- those manufactured by the Factory "Orenchâle", an old Russian company, which always maintains same manufacture.
- those done with the hand by Master-craftsmen.
They are two different worlds!
