The Orenburg shawls don't have the notoriety they deserve apart from Russia.
As called "Pashminas Russian", they are manufactured with this astonishing matter which is the Siberia Goat Duvet, which is produced by the goats only when they are exposed to large cold (-40°C minimum).
The goats produce only approximately 300g of this duvet which "is collected" by combing, and all the attempts to acclimatize them elsewhere than in Siberia failed.
You understand then why this duvet is extremely hot, inflating and light. It is an excellent insulating.
The first time that a person holds a Orenburg shawl in her hands, she is always very astonished: the contact is extremely soft, the sensation of heat is immediate, and the extraordinary inflating is reduced to nothing when you tighten it in the hands, to take again its thickness as soon as it is released.
Thus a traditional test is to make it pass in a wedding ring: if it passes, it is a real !
